Here in France we’ve been on ‘lockdown’ with severe restrictions for two months. But that ended on 11th May. I was thinking about how the confinement had made me slow down, and think about what was really important, notice the beauty around me. It’s has been so peaceful and quiet. I have some lovely memories from the last two months…..so it’s happy and sad at the same time….and it was this feeling that inspired the composition. I hope you like it.
With all bars and restaurants closed, and travel banned for non essential purposes there was no way Bennetti’s Jazz Blues Club could go ahead in March. Instead we put out our first ever online broadcast. This featured music from members only. You can listen to it here….
Music from Norrie Snakebite Burnnett, Tim Bragg, Andy Berry, Ann Ellam, Rod Millgate, Madame Blanc, and Steve and Ev’ from Highland Hotclub.
I got an invite from a local French music label to submit a track for an album. The album will be call Museum. Each invited musician must use something from history as an inspiration for their composition. I decided to use the iconic Citroën SM!
I hope you like it…..
A funk number inspired by one of the most iconic cars from the 70s. The Citroën SM! …a high-performance coupé produced by the French manufacturer Citroën from 1970 to 1975. Citroën purchased Maserati in 1968 with the intention of harnessing Maserati’s high-performance engine technology to produce a true Gran Turismo car, combining the sophisticated Citroën suspension with a Maserati V6. The result was the incredible Citroën SM.

If you are looking for some Jazz and Blues action in the Haute Vienne, Charente area of France, then Bennetti’s Jazz n Blues Club could be the place for you. We meet on the last Thursday every other month. All players of all abilities are very welcome, all I ask is that you contact me first so that I can fit you in where you’ll be happiest. Bennetti’s Jazz n Blues Club is primarily for musicians, our aim is, “to create a warm loving environment in which like minded musicians can meet, play, share, grow, and get hip!”, having said that, all fans of jazz n blues are welcome.
The bass player in the funk band that I play with found this rhythmic displacement line on a youtube channel called ‘studio jams’. He’s been driving us mad with it ever since. Thing is, when the guys on YT play it they speed up slightly, making it very hard to get just right. I decided to see if I could put it together ‘straight’. Here’s the result…..
Thanks to Tim Bragg for the flute, Andy ‘SupaWal’ Bennett for the drums, and Serge Bardot for the bass. I played the guitar and keyboards parts. It was fun! 🙂
The traditional Jazz n Blues session at the Soleil Couchant on Boxing Day is a goer! I have some great musos lined up to play. The place will be packed and rockin’. If you want to come along to watch and you want a table, booking is essential. If you want to play, then come along. It would be great if you could let me know you are coming. Send me a mail titled ‘Jazz n Blues Boxing Day’ to stratobiker at yaho.co.uk
